Changes to SALT

(Image used without permission! Yay!)

First, hello to anypony that somehow stumbled upon this lovely site, nice to meet you!
Okay, now on with the news!

SALT’s original goal was to review fiction. Determining whether or not it was ready to be sent to bigger sites like Equestria Daily or Fimfiction.

Unfortunately (or not) we turned from reviewers to editors. People expected us to edit their work, finding little mistakes and correcting them. That is not our job!

We review work. We read it, look at it, and determine whether or not it is ready. We then point out flaws, such as bad grammar or punctuation or a bad plot. We are encouraged to give a few tips and some advice on how to fix these, but not to actually jump in and edit.

Back to our origins, I say!

From now on we will only review. This does not mean that, SALTer willing, we won’t edit. It just means that editing is not our primary concern.

Recruitment!

-A recruitment campaign will start off... Right now!

Necessities to join:

-The ability to read

-An opinion

-Basic grammar/writing skills

-The incredible ability to tell whether or not what you’re reading is good.

That’s it. Once you’ve read a document, whole or in part, make a comment on it.... Nothing long, a few paragraphs on the pros and cons would do nicely, finally tell the author whether or not you think it has a chance of making it to EqD.

  1. >.>.... Dagger... Did you make this site?

I can tell people my opinion on their stuff WITHOUT being expected to do other stuff? What sorcery is this?!

  2. Well, there's a bit of a backstory to SALT, but yeah, this is SALT in a shaker- I mean nutshell.

  3. If you need someone to read stories and give them critiques then that is basically what I do. My grammar sucks but I can tell if a story is good or not.
Here is where you can see my work if you are interested.

  4. Wait, so does this mean that we hands-down shouldn't edit? That's kind of what I do around here... Besides, editing is just compulsory for me as I read something; if I don't make/suggest changes (when necessary) as I go, I get this nagging feeling that winds up bringing my opinion of a piece down.

    1. ... And now I see how late I am in coming to this. How the heck did I get to this post in the first place then? It was just open in one of my tabs...

Anyway, my question still stands, I guess.
